Dr. Mireia Vendrell

Mireia Vendrell is a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral researcher at IIIA-CSIC, working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and educational sciences. Her research focuses on critical thinking, trust, agency, human-AI interaction and the responsible integration of AI in education. Her doctoral research developed and validated a critical-thinking assessment instrument with over 5,000 university students in Spain. She contributes to the EduTeams initiative and collaborates on the international TRAINE project, led by the University of Melbourne. Since October 2026 she has been Principal Investigator of TACT-AI (Trust, Agency and Critical Thinking in AI), a project funded by the “la Caixa” Foundation that investigates adolescents’ trust, agency and critical thinking in interactions with AI.

Université Côte d’Azur

Nice, France · univ-cotedazur.eu

Université Côte d’Azur (UniCA) is a public research university based in Nice. Since January 2020 it has operated as an experimental university, succeeding the Université Nice Sophia Antipolis, founded in 1965. It enrols about 35,000 students and received the French Initiative of Excellence (IdEx) label in 2016. Its research units include LINE, a team in educational sciences hosted at the INSPE teacher-education institute in Nice, which studies educational innovation, media literacy, co-creativity and critical thinking from nursery school to university. UniCA also offers the MSc SmartEdTech, a two-year, largely online programme taught in English that combines computer science, education sciences and applied cognitive science, including machine learning applied to learning data.
